From time immemorial until the advent of subsidies for uprooting and planting vines, Rufete was the most important grape variety in the Pinhel region. This variety allowed for good production, resulting in light, fresh wines with low color and alcohol, ideal for generously pairing with local cuisine. Following this concept, 25 years ago we planted a vineyard with the exceptional Rufete variety, using selected clones, on granitic sandy soils on a slope at approximately 600 meters altitude.
